Sep 1 : Indian Catholic Youth Movement St. Paul Deanery Puttur organized POWERUP 2022 'To the nation, with Jesus' Youth convention on 28th August 2022 at St. Antony’s Church hall Bannur. The programme commenced at 9.30 am with the prayer song.

Inaugural function was presided over by the chief guest Mr. Jaison Crasta and Rev Fr. Lawrence Masacrenhas- Vicar Forane of St Paul Eastern Deanery Puttur. Deanery director Rev Fr. Jason Lobo, Unit director Fr. Prashanth Fernandese, Parish council vice-president Mr. Thomas Fernandese, Deanery president Ms. Wilma Lobo, Deanery secretary Ms. Roshal Preema, Unit president Mr.Stalin Gonsalves, Unit secretary Ms. Deonna Menezes were the dignitaries present on the dais.

Mr. Deepak Dsouza hosted the formal program. Ms. Viyolo Lobo welcomed the gathering. Inauguration was done by lighting the lamp by the dignitaries.

Mr. Jaison Lawrence Crasta- Immediate Past President of Mangalore Diocese, Ms. Vishma Dcunha- Past Secretary of Mangalore Diocese, Mr. Rakesh Rego- Past Joint Secretary of Mangalore diocese and Puttur Deanery Representative for the year 2021-22 were honoured during the program.

Felicitation was done for the youth who have excelled in different fields : Ms. Riyona - academic achiever, Ms. Vinisha- sports achiever (weight lifting) and Loyston Menezes for his academic research.

Chief guest Mr. Jaison Crasta encouraged the youths to come up with more effective programmes.

Rev. Fr. Lawrence Mascarenhas spoke about different initiatives taken by the ICYM members for the well-being of society and gave a brief message regarding the issues currently youths are facing and how to overcome those issues.

The formal ceremony came to an end with vote of thanks by Mr. Stalin Gonsalves.

Holy mass was held for all the youths gathered for the youth convention, Rev Fr. Jason Lobo was the celebrant of the holy Eucharist. Liturgy service was led by the members of the Deanery Executive committee.

The Afternoon session commenced with action songs, and a youth café led by Mr. Jaison Pereira, Shirthady. The different topics related to the issues of the young generation were given to the youths as a discussion point. Youths came up with the fascinating ideas and pros and cons of the assigned discussion point. The youth café turned out to be the most interesting session of the day.

This was followed by fun filled activities and games, where all the youths participated actively.

The valedictory program started with Rev Fr. Jason Lobo giving his message for the evening.

Rev Fr. Prashanth Wilson Fernandese - Bannur Vicar, Rev Fr. Kevin Dsouza, Mr. Jaison Pereira, Mr. Fryal Cross- Treasurer of ICYM Mangalore diocese, Mr. Sushanth Fernandese nominated member and Representative of Puttur deanery, Ms Wilma Lobo, Ms. Roshal Preema Dsouza, Mr. Stalin Gonsalves and Ms. Dionna Menezes were the dignitaries for the valedictory ceremony.

Ms. Mavina pinto hosted the programme. Mr. Royston Rebello welcomed the dignitaries and all the gatherings for the valedictory ceremony. Mr. Deepak Dsouza announced the names of the winners of the lucky draw.

Rev. Fr. Prashanth appreciated the Deanery Committee executives for successfully organizing the convention and bringing the youth together.

The Youth convention came to an end with the words of gratitude by Roshal Preema Dsouza. The programme concluded with Baila dance.
