May 23 : Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM), Diocese of Mangalore under the banner of Red Drop, participated in a Blood donation camp organised by the Indian Postal Department, Puttur division on the occasion of their 43rd year of its foundation. Other collaborating partners were Lions Club Bantwal, Rarasam Foundation® Bantwal, Red-Cross Society Mangalore and Lady Goschen Hospital Mangalore. The blood donation drive was held on Friday, May 20, 2022 at Lions Seva Mandir, Bantwal.

A formal programme was held after the blood donation drive. Fr Ashwin Lohith Cardoza, Director ICYM Mangalore Diocese; Jaison Lawrence Crasta, Diocesan President; Joel Crasta and Pradeep Rosario, Red Drop Coordinators were present for this programme.

Fr Ashwin in his speech congratulated Indian Postal department, Puttur Division and Lions club for organising such a good programme. He also briefed about the history of Red-Drop app and its working. He congratulated Red-Drop representatives Joel Crasta and Pradeep Rosario for their committed service.

Joel Crasta and Pradeep Rosario introduced the Red-Drop app to the donors, explained the procedure to download the app and motivated them to use it. The donors were briefed about the uses and benefits of the app. About 47 donors came forward to donate blood. It is indeed another milestone for the ICYM as many more lives are saved in a simple act of donating blood.
