March 14 : St Agnes College (Autonomous), Department of Zoology and Women Cell in collaboration with ICYM Central Council Mangalore Diocese and Mercy Beauty Academy organised ‘Beautiful Lengths', a hair donation drive on Saturday February 25 at St Agnes College. The programme was held on the occasion of Women's Day.

Dr Najeeb Behzad Mohammed, Assistant Professor of Medical Oncology, Kanachur Medical College said, “Donating hair can save lives. Many times, due to fear of hair loss or the effect of treatment, patients hesitate to take treatment. With different kinds of treatment for cancer, there comes along myths and misunderstanding about those particular treatments. It is very difficult to convince people especially after whatever they’ve read on social media regarding cancer.”

Principal of St Agnes College, Dr M Venissa AC said, “Hair is the beauty and pride of a woman. Donating it will give someone a second chance to live. If we receive and engage in giving, our life will be worthwhile.”

President of ICYM Anil John Sequeira, Red Drop Representative Brendon Cutinha, KRYC Lady representative Viola Reshma Lewis were also present during the programme

The coordinator of women’s cell Vishma D’Cunha welcomed the gathering and the head of the department of zoology Prof. Ameetha K rendered the vote of thanks.

A total of 32 donors including both male and female donated their long and beautiful hair for this noble cause.
