Nov 17, 2023 : The ICYM Loretto Unit organized a vibrant and joyous celebration on November 12th, dedicated to Children's Day at the Loretto Church Hall. The event aimed to provide a platform for children of different age groups to showcase their talents and creativity through various activities.

The program commenced at 2.30 pm with prayer led by ICYM youth. Rev. Fr Francis Crasta Parish priest of Loretto church presided over the event along with Rev. Fr Jason Monis Loretto English Medium school Principal, Mr Cyprian Dsouza Vice President of Pastoral Council, Mrs Shaila Barboza Secretary of Pastoral Council, Sr Agnes Andrade Superior of Nirmala Convent, Mr Alwyn Pinto Animator of ICYM Loretto unit were the dignitaries. Mrs. Renisha Veigas and Mr. Calwin Fernandes were the judges for the competition.

Vinod Menezes welcomed all the guests. Rev. Fr Francis Crasta addressed the gathering, emphasizing the significance of Children's Day and underscoring the importance of children actively participating in various events. He highlighted how such participation fosters creativity, confidence, and a sense of community, contributing to the holistic development of the young minds.

An online baby photo contest for children aged 1 to 3 years was conducted, and the adorable kids photos were showcased on ICYM's Instagram channel. The highlight of the event was the Ramp walk competition, which featured distinctive categories for different age groups. The competition commenced with the endearing LKG-UKG category, the children participated in the ramp walk competition, showcasing their creativity through imaginative and colorful costumes. What set this category apart was the additional challenge posed by the judges, who asked thought-provoking questions to each participant, adding an element of intelligence and quick thinking to the event. The 1st to 4th grade children embraced the theme of the day by dressing up as saints, embodying the spirit of virtue and devotion. Moving forward, the 5th to 7thgrade students displayed their ingenuity by creating costumes related to the theme "Wealth out of Waste." The children's innovative and eco-friendly costumes highlighted the importance of recycling and resourcefulness. The 8th to 10th grade students brought a touch of humor to the event with their "Mismatch" theme, donning costumes that were intentionally unconventional and amusing. This category added a light-hearted and entertaining element to the overall celebration.

The ICYM members organized an action song that had the children energetically participating. Following the song, engaging games were conducted, ensuring that the children had a delightful time throughout the event. The celebration reached its pinnacle with the announcement of winners in each category. Prizes were distributed to applaud the efforts and creativity of the participants.

Around 34 youth members attended this program. The program concluded at 5.30 pm. Lenson Fernandes compered the event. Ashlin Barboza, Secretary of ICYM Loretto unit delivered Vote of thanks .The event concluded with the distribution of cake and ice cream to all those in attendance.
