July 24, 2016: It was indeed a great and special day for the youth of Madanthyar, when all the preparations and planning unfolded one by one. The campus of Sacred Heart Church hall was full with one hundred and fifty plus youth, and it was organized by the ICYM of Madanthyar.
The curtains went up at 3.00 pm and the backdrop was filled with a creative print of palms of the youth. As customary first on the list of programs was the prayer service conducted by the hostel boys. ICYM President Prem Prakash Lobo welcomed the gathering. Fr. Arun Lobo, Director of ICYM Belthangady Deanery gave the inaugural address followed by Mr. Joel Fernandes, President ICYM Belthangady Deanery and Fr. Lawrence Mascarenhas the Parish Priest, Madanthyar Church addressing the gathering. Ms. Olisha Tauro, ICYM unit Secretary concluded the formal session with the vote of thanks.
"YUVA MULAKATH" then continued by the resource person Mr. Norbert Miscquith, Surthakal. His talent and smartness got the attention of the youth combined with his attractive way of communication. He formed groups and named them after months and conducted some fun games. Hats off to the executive council members of ICYM, Mangalore Diocese for their motivating presence and active participation. The cultural program by the talented hostel girls and ICYM female members and a sensational drama by 'Super Talented Kings of Madanthyar' got the audience rolling with laughter and enjoyment. The Selfie contest prizes were also distributed to the winners. The event concluded with the joyous part of all occasions 'Baila' with special attraction of foot tapping DJ beats.
