Oct 24 : Modernization has influenced man to an extent where the local traditions are found declining. In an attempt to relive those childhood days, traditional games and the Konkani culture, I.C.Y.M Arva Unit organised a set of games under the title "ಮಾತ್ಯೆ ಆಂಗ್ಣಾಂತ್ ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ್ ಖೆಳ್" on Sunday, 15 October 2023 from 10 am to 12.30pm at St. Peter Claver School ground. Soon after the first mass Breakfast was served to all the parishioners.

The inaugural ceremony of this beautiful day commenced at 10am by invoking God's blessings through a prayer song. This occasion was graced by Fr. Elias D'Souza - Parish Priest; Mr. Steevan Pais - Vice President, Parish pastoral council; Mrs.Monica D'Souza - Secretary, Parish pastoral council; Mr.Elvin Prashanth D'cunha - President,I.C.Y.M Belthangady Deanery; Mrs.Ashmitha D'Souza - Animator, I.C.Y.M Arva Unit; Supreeth Fernandes - President ,I C.Y.M Arva unit ;Natasha Mascarenhas - Secretary, I.C.Y.M Arva unit ;Kevin Lobo - Sports Secretary, I.C.Y.M Arva unit.

Supreeth Fernandes welcomed the dignitaries and the gathering. The inaugural was done in a unique way in representation of the traditional works by opening the writings written inside the woven coconut fronds. Fr. Elias D'Souza spoke on how the old traditions were celebrated and how the traditions have evolved overtime. Kevin lobo rendered vote of thanks and Reshma Crasta compered the Inaugural program.

Competitions began soon after the Inaugural. A total of 12 competitions for different categories were conducted ward-wise. These competitions included ಕಪ್ಪೆ ಓಟ, ಭಂಡಿ ಧಾಂವ್ಡಾಂವ್ಚೆಂ , ಮೊಡ್ಲಾಂ ವೊಳ್ಚೆಂ, ನಾರ್ಲ್ ಸೊಲ್ಚೆo, ಪೊವ್ಲ್ಯೆಚಿ ಖಂಡಿ ಕರ‍್ಚಿ, ಮುಡೊ ಬಾoದ್ಚೊ, ಯೆಂಟೊ ವೊಳ್ಚೊ , ಬೆಡೊ ಸೊಲ್ಚೊ , ಸಾರೊಣ್ ಕರ‍್ಚಿ , ದಿರ್ವೆಂ ಸೊಧ್ಚೆಂ, ಪೊವ್ಲೆಂತ್ ಬಸುನ್ ವೊಡ್ಚೆಂ, ಮೊಡ್ಕಿ ಫುಟೊಂವ್ಚಿ etc.

Many participants from each ward actively took part in the competitions. Overall, the programme was a great success. All present felt content with the games as it brought back all the memories of the old days.
