June 29, 2024 : Green Fest event took place on 23rd June in the surroundings of Our Lady of Pompei Church, Gurpur Kaikamba after the Sunday Eucharistic Holy Mass. Rev Fr. Pius Fedelis Pinto, Parish Pastoral Council Vice President Mr. Romans Lobo, Parish Pastoral Council Secretary Mr. Johnson Lobo, Parish 21 commissions coordinator Mrs. Hilda Menezes, ICYM-PYC Animator Mr. Godwin Tauro, ICYM-PYC President Lester Menezes and Secretary Preema Menezes and 35 ICYM-PYC members were present on this occasion.

All the Honorary guests planted a Mango tree and inaugurated the event GREEN FEST. Then, all the ICYM-PYC members were divided into 5 groups who planted 5 more Mango Trees. In 2021 June, ICYM-PYC planted 100 trees by organizing an event called "MIYAWAKI". "MIYAWAKI" is a technique pioneered by Japanese botanist Akira Miyawaki, that helps build dense, native forests in a short time. Today these plants and trees were re-nourished with fertilizers. The ICYM-PYC members showed true team spirit, enthusiasm and worked for 2 continuous hours to protect the mother earth.
