July 19 : “Its not how much we give, but how much love we put into giving.” - Saint Teresa of Kolkata.

Taking the words of our patron St. Teresa, the ICYM Paldane unit organised a charity event named ‘CLOTH DRIVE’, where clothes were collected in parish from parishioners and were later given to the needy. This event began on 17th June, 2023. Starting from 3rd Saturday of June, ICYM Members collected clean and usable clothes by placing boxes near the entrance of the church before and after the mass. This was repeated continuously for 3 Saturdays and 3 Sundays.

Parishioners were informed in advance regarding ‘CLOTH DRIVE’ through after-mass announcements and through WhatsApp messages. Parishioners showed their support whole heartedly by generously contributing clean and neat cloths which were even nicely packed. This support shown by parishioners encouraged our youths to participate actively throughout the event.

Each day after collecting the clothes, members of ICYM Paldane segregated and categorized those clothes according to age and gender. After categorizing, the clothes were later re-checked before sealing them into boxes. Each box mentioned the type of cloth that was kept inside them. Altogether the clothes were checked thoroughly twice before handing them to those in need.

Cloths were distributed to these 5 places:

1) Jeevadaan HIV/AIDS women and children’s Home , Kaikamba
2) Kavoor slum area and school
3) Better life charitable trust, Kulshekar
4) St. Anthony’s Ashram, Jeppu
5) Carmel Vidya Vikas Residential school of Mentally Retarded , Bailhongal Belagavi.

All the mentioned institutions were approached in advance about their institution’s cloth requirement and later the cloth boxes were distributed accordingly. Sr. Jacinta Mary co-ordinated with Paldane ICYM members and helped in supplying the cloth boxes to Carmel Vidya Vikas Residential school of Mentally Retarded situated in Belagavi. Sr. Stella along with Vidya Jyoti Kavoor management helped in distributing the clothes to Kavoor slum area.

Animator Mr. Roshan Monteiro and Parishioner Mr. Vincent Serrao provided vehicle assistance to the ICYM members along with being actively present throughout the event. Around 15 ICYM members participated in this event and took turns during cloth segregation and distribution.
